COMMISSIONS

“I saw Susan Vitali's work at Redux and thought what a uniquely personal twist on abstract work that was so lovely.  Her work gave me the feeling of serenity and peace as well.  Later after both of my in-laws passed within a very short time of one another and our family was dealing with grief, I thought about Susan's work.  Seeing my Mother and Father-in-laws handwriting on the paperwork we were processing and thinking about all the words of advice over the years they so generously gave us made me think that we may find some comfort in having their handwriting memorialized.  I contacted Susan and she created a beautiful piece that is hanging in our dining room, which I gave to my husband.  We greatly miss both of them every day but it is comforting to walk by and see their unique handwriting and words in such a beautiful piece of art.

My daughter is engaged and I think it would be wonderful if Susan could create a unique piece that would include the vows.  I just need to get a copy of those vows first!  

Susan's work combines abstract art with deeply personal emotions and life events and I am so glad to have her work in my home.”

“When I first saw Vitali’s art I was very inspired! I had never really thought of handwriting as art before because I am usually rushed. Looking at her art made me slow down and appreciate the fact that writing is quite beautiful and much more than a utilitarian skill. It allows people to share their sentiments, and in these types of personalized letters, individual personalities are reflected in unique ways. The cursive writing was taken from a letter to Alison from her mother.

“I commissioned this piece as a gift for my mother for sentimental reasons, as she always sends handwritten notes in the mail. After I gift it to her, she will likely hang it in her home in Nashville! She may pass it down to me after she passes away. It definitely won't leave our family!”

TWO AREAS OF FOCUS

1. CURSIVE - I love to do commissions that relate to my customer’s life. Perhaps you would like to incorporate your Grandmother’s handwriting from letters or recipes; family photos; family stories or other history. Actual objects can be incorporated into the art like pages from your relative’s calendar, notes, etc.

2. ABSTRACT - Pure abstract for the love of space, color, texture, line and shape.
